Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoons almond flour
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 2 tablespoons milk See notes
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate chips

Equipment

  • Microwave-safe mug
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Fork or small whisk

Method
 

  1. Grease a microwave-safe bowl or mug and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add your dry ingredients and mix well. Add your almond butter syrup, and milk and mix until a smooth batter remains. If it is too thick, add a little extra milk. Fold in your chocolate chips.
  3. Transfer your mug cake batter into the greased mug and microwave for one minute.
  4. Allow the mug cake to sit for one minute, before enjoying!

Notes

Microwaves vary in power, so start with 50 seconds if you have a high-powered unit. Don't skip the resting time as it allows the cake to finish cooking gently and prevents rubbery texture. For variations, try adding cinnamon, espresso powder, or different mix-ins like mini marshmallows or peanut butter chips.
