Ingredients

  • ¼ cup Original Bisquick pancake mix
  • 2 tablespoons milk
Optional Toppings
  • butter to taste
  • maple syrup to taste
  • fresh berries optional
  • sliced bananas optional
  • chocolate chips optional
  • chopped nuts optional

Equipment

  • Microwave-safe mug
  • Small spoon
  • measuring cups
  • - Measuring spoons
  • Oven mitts

Method

  1. Measure ¼ cup of Bisquick pancake mix into your microwave-safe mug. Add 2 tablespoons of milk. The mixture should look slightly thick but stirrable. Stir just until combined - don't overmix! Lumps are perfectly fine.
  2. Place your mug in the microwave and cook for 1 minute on high power. If you're adding mix-ins like chocolate chips or berries, increase the time to 2 minutes. Always use a microwave-safe mug to avoid damage.
  3. Carefully remove the mug using oven mitts – it will be extremely hot. Let it cool for 30 seconds before adding your toppings. The cake should spring back lightly when touched and pull away slightly from the mug's sides.
  4. Serve topped with butter, maple syrup, and your favorite toppings like fresh berries, sliced bananas, chocolate chips, or nuts. Enjoy immediately while warm.

Notes

For extra fluffiness, let your batter rest for 30 seconds before microwaving. Microwave power varies - start with 45 seconds for powerful microwaves (1000+ watts) and adjust as needed. Don't overmix the batter to maintain light, airy texture. Pre-measure dry ingredients for quick preparation when cravings strike.
